Asia and India
Nothing beats being home in Batangas, Philippines where, I must admit, I acquire the intonation every time I visit. Honestly, I do not get much artistic inspiration from the home province of my mother. Rather, I am reminded to do my work to the best of my ability, traits which I have learned most from my mother. I also frequent the City of Bacolod, Philippines, the hometown of my husband. In addition to the smiles of the people, just the thought of the native delicacies inspires me – Bacolod inasal, dulce gatas and piyaya… yum.. yum… To refresh my artistic creativity, I like going to places with serene beaches, like Boracay, and with refreshing weather, like in Baguio. My friends always remind me to relax, but how can I when even just the sand formation on the beach or the smell of the fresh pine cones inspires me.Since Asia is close to home, I get a lot of my inspirations from my travels in Asia. From the modern buildings of Singapore to the exotic temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, from the historical sites of Beijing to the delicate and colorful artistry in India, from the spicy food of Malaysia to the sweets of Bacolod, Philippines, from the latest fashion trends in Bangkok and Shanghai to the elegance of the embroidery of our own Pina fabric… all these have opened my mind to new designs and color combinations. We don't have to go far to know what the rest of the world has to offer. We have almost everything in Asia.
