Merlene J. Marcelo may not be a household name. However, for people in the bridal industry and for most of her satisfied customers, Merlene’s embroidery and beading work on women’s apparel have been known for their exquisite finish and considered top quality. In fact, other wedding suppliers have regularly referred Merlene's services to their clients and have even gotten her services to their own wedding. Customers have also consistently recommended Merlene's work and some clients have made getting her services for weddings a family tradition. She humbly says that her best advertising is having her work speak for itself.
Merlene is one of those lucky people who loves their job. She has been in the business for almost 20 years, starting modestly with 5 sewing machines. Instead of immigrating to the USA, Merlene has chosen to pursue her passion here in the Philippines and to continue to provide employment to over 60 skilled personnel. The quality and beauty of her work coupled with the reasonableness of the price have been her secret ticket to success. When asked how she would describe herself, she sums it up in one word, “PASSIONATE."
Merlene derives a lot of her artistic designs from her travels. Merlene is fortunate to personally view the latest fashion in major cities in Europe, Asia and the Americas, like the fashion capital cities of Paris and Milan, the free-flowing fashion in New York City, the artistic and sensual cities of Buenos Aires and Rio de Janiero, and the more traditional cities of Beijing and Tokyo. Being a graduate of the School of Fine Arts of the University of Santo Tomas and a product of Assumption College High School, Merlene derives a lot of inspiration from the various artworks and architectural structures in each of the places she visits. She is also able to source the latest fabrics and fashion accessories which can be used for wedding ensembles and which are generally not available in the Philippines . Through artful imagination and detailed craftsmanship, Merlene is able to combine the latest in fashion trends around the globe with the bride and groom's personal style to create a unique artwork and design for their wedding day.
